Day One: 26/February/2024

The 18th Arabcab Conference was held for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in AlUla between the period of 26th and 28th February 2024 under the title of “digitalization in the cables company”. The event started on the 26th February with a tour in AlUla old town and a networking dinner in Somewhere restaurant.

 

Day Two: 27/February/2024

Mr. Hamid Al Zayani, Arabcab’s general secretary started the second day of event with an opening speech welcoming all the guests. He also thanked the platinium sponsors Bahra Cables and AlFanar, the gold sponsor Midal cables and all the silver and bronze sponsors. He then introduced the speakers and agenda of this year’s conference.

This was followed by a speech by His Excellency Deputy Minister for Development and Empowerment Engineer Albadr Foudeh from the Ministry of Industry where he welcomed all the guests to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and spoke about the key initiatives and services offered as well as a general overview of the industrial strategy.

Then, Mr. Abdulsalam AlMutlaq, CEO of AlFanar welcomed everyone to AlUla and presented about the giga and energy projects landscape in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Talal Idriss, CEO of Bahra Cables continued welcoming the guests and expressed his pleasure to meet again for the first time in Saudi Arabia.

The guests then broke out for a coffee break which was followed by a speech by Mr. Abdullah Obaikan, CEO of Obaikan group where he spoke about the digitalization in the cable industry and how to succeed in the digitalization process.

This was followed by a speech by Mr. Mark Hallum from OXAGON at NEOM where he spoke about the challenge, solution and opportunity of industry 4.0

Then, the CEO of GCC lab Mr. Saleh Alamri started his speech and gave an overview about the services that the lab offers to the cable and other industries.

Then, Mr. Ahmed AlThagafi from GCC Grid spoke about the latest plans and developments of the grid.

Lastly, Ms. Aisling Hubert from the CRU group presented about the challenges and opportunities of the cable industry.

The day concluded with a tour of Hegra, and a fantastic stargazing session followed by networking dinner at the Habitas hotel.

 

Day Three: 28/February/2024

The third day of the conference, started with a speech by Europa Cable by Dr. Volker Wendt where he spoke about the CEO networking forum of the international Wire & Cable Industry.

Then, Mr. Wasim AlMalouhi from AlFanar presented about the growth in renewable energy &

the impact on the electricity grid.

This was followed by a presentation by Engineer Mohammed Asker, CTO- Bahra Cables where he spoke about the extra high voltage and green cables and the sustainable structure and development.

Then Mr. Wael AlTheyab from SASO presented about the EV charging and the standards applied for BEV. He also spoke about the type of chargers allowed in KSA.

The second speaking session ended by a presentation by Mr. Nasser AlQahtani from GCC Lab who addressed the unique features offered by the lab.

Then the General Committee meeting was held. The members have discussed important elements and areas to develop the cables industry. They also discussed the time and location of the next conference which will be held in the city of Fez in Morocco.
