Day One: 3/March/2023

The 17th Arabcab Conference was held in the Arab Republic of Egypt and at the Movenpick Sunray in the period of the 3rd and 6th March 2023, the title of the conference was “Raw materials in the cables industry”. The conference started in the night of 3rd with a dinner that was sponsored by ElSewedy Electric and hosted at the Luxor Temple, where guests enjoyed a networking dinner.

Day Two: 4/March/2023

The second day of the Conference started with the opening speech from Arabcab’s Secretary General, Mr. Hamid Al Zayani where he introduced the conference speakers and agenda for this year and thanked all the sponsors and guests that attended the conference.

This was followed by a presentation from Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, the CEO of Elsewedy Electric. He welcomed everyone to Egypt and expressed his pleasure of conducting the conference in Egypt.

Then spoke Professor Khaled AlAnany, the former minister of tourism and antiquities of Egypt.  He presented the recent efforts and achievement of the ministry and showed the upcoming projects that will be open soon in Egypt as well as spoke about the science of Egyptology.

The guests then broke out for a coffee break which was followed by a speech by Ms. Lamiaa Abdulhadi, corporate advisor for renewable energy from EETC. She spoke about the development of the electricity transmission system in the electrical network of Egypt.

This was followed with a speech by Mr. Abdulhamid Beshara, the CEO of Masader Environmental and Energy Services. He showcased the sustainability and decarbonization journey of Elsewedy Electric as well as CRU’s future.

Lastly, Mr. Zaid AlJanabi, principle analyst from CRU presented about the Copper and Aluminum markets where he explained the 2023 GDP Growth and the risks facing the industry.

The day concluded with an afternoon tea and BBQ dinner on top of the cruise, where everyone enjoyed a networking space.

Day Three: 5/March/2023

The third day of the conference, started with a speech by Mr. Henry Van, senior analyst from Trafigura. In which he talked about the energy transition in the future and his forecast for the aluminum and copper.

This was followed by a success stories session where cable manufacture companies shared effective activities implemented in their organizations and the outcomes of these activities. Ducab, Coficab, MESC, Tunise cables, Midal Cables and Giza cables all contributed with a speech on this session.

The General Committee meeting was held afterwards, and in the meeting a lot of important matters were discussed related to the latest developments in the cable industry and how the Arab Cable Manufacturers can work together on these matters, as well as a decision was made about the date and time of the next Arabcab event.

The conference concluded with a visit to the temple of Philae.
