Day One: 1/March/2022
The 16th Arabcab Conference was held in the United Arab Emirates- Dubai between the period of the 1st and 3rd of March, under the theme of “Innovation in the Arab Cables” the Conference opened on the night of the 1st with a dinner that was sponsored by DUCAB and hosted at the host hotel- JA Beach Hotel, where guests enjoyed a networking dinner.
Day Two: 2/March/2022
The second day of the Conference started with the opening speech by a word from Arabcab’s Secretary General, Mr. Hamid Al Zayani and in it he introduced the conference speakers and the conference agenda for this year, and thanked all the sponsors and guests that attended the conference.
This was followed by a presentation from HE Abdulla Al Shamsi, the Assistant Undersecretary for industrial growth sector in the Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology\ United Arab Emirates, he spoke about the Ministry recent efforts in developing the sector and what opportunities are there for outside investors.
After that spoke Mr. Mohamed AlMutawa, the CEO of DUCAB. In his speech he welcomed everyone to Dubai, and he talked about Ducab’s recent achievements with the Expo 2020 as well as the museum of the future.
The guests then broke out for a coffee break which was followed by a speech by Mr. Adel AlMulla, Vice President Quality Health Safety & Environment, in his speech he shared the company’s continuity plan during Covid-19 and the company also shared its efforts in Expo 2020.
This was followed with a speech by Mr. Veikko Nieminen, Director, Sales& Marketing of Maillefer in which he spoke about the artificial intelligence in the cable manufacturing as well as Maillefer’s efforts to provide better and more accurate machines to the cables industry.
After that Mr. Hakim Darwish, Global Key Account Manager at A.P. Moller – Maersk presented about the status of the supply chain during the current crisis. He also showcased some challenges and future opportunities for the transport& logistics sector and why has shipping prices gone up in the recent period.
This was followed with a speech by Mr. Mahfood Bin Nasser Al Raqdi, General Manager of the Office of the Technical Secretariat to combat harmful practices in international trade, in which he explained the work of his office and highlighted some of the office’s achievements over the years.
And last for the day was a speech by Mr. Hamad Hisham AlShirawi, Head of Expo Business Program who explained the structure of Expo, number of pavilions and countries participated.
The day concluded with a tour visit to Expo 2020 and a dinner hosted in Baron restaurant.
Day Three: 3/March/2022
The third day of the conference, started with a speech by Mr. Bahaa Shaban from Bourouge. In which he talked about the global predictions for 2022 and he shared some success stories of the company in recent times.
This was followed by a presentation from Mr. Ralf Binninger from Maschinenfabrik Niehoff GmbH & C KG, who showcased the company’s double twist strander D2002 and how it can benefit the industry.
After that spoke Chenfei Wang from CRU Wire and Cable Division about the global cable market recovery and the prices of Aluminum and copper over the last few years.
This was followed by a presentation by Mr. Mathias Stroble from SKET Verseilmaschinenbau GmbH who spoke about the innovation for cable machinery with regards to renewable energy sources.
Finally, Mr. Dieter Gerger from Windak Estonia introduced his company and spoke about the packaging solutions available for the industry.
The General Committee meeting was held afterwards, and in the meeting a lot of important matters were discussed related to the latest developments in the cable industry and how the Arab Cable Manufacturers can work together on these matters, as well as a decision was made about the date and time of the next Arabcab event.
The conference concluded with a visit to Dubai Future Museum.
